Some of us go crazy every apple season and buy as many apples from the orchard as possible (almost two bushels in my case!) It becomes inevitable that you cannot possibly eat another apple, so here is a way to save those precious rose-family fruits from waste! Great for kids, great for adults, great for dogs(omit sugar and lemon juice)! Dessert, breakfast or a great element for autumn baking!
Ingredients:
12-15 apples
3-4 tablespoons lemon juice
1/4 cup turbinado sugar
1/2 - 1 teaspoon cinnamon - to taste
1/2 cup water
Directions:
Peel, core and quarter apples. Place in medium stockpot with lemon juice, sugar and water. Cover and simmer on medium-low until the apples begin to break down, stirring every 7-10 minutes to prevent scalding. Serve warm, or store in covered container in refrigerator.
